I lead because I want to be a voice for those who no longer feel like they have one.
Most of my mentors were teachers, great women who saw leadership in me when I did not see it in myself. My political mentor is former Michigan Representative, Rose Bogardus. I worked for her campaigns when my children were babies. Now I am running for her former seat, and she is my campaign manager. I could not do this without her wisdom and experience.
I couldn’t run in this race without my personal support system. My husband has been amazingly supportive. He knows how important the campaign is to our community and he helps me in any way I ask; he’s moved large office furniture by himself, driven me miles to knock on doors, asked friends and family for donations—anything I need.
