I lead because I care about the people of our state and I see an opportunity to do better. I want to bring people together to create solutions to our current problems and give people hope for our future.
Running for office has been a lot more fun that I had expected it to be—who knew I’d love knocking on doors so much? I have enjoyed meeting more people, seeing more of my community, and learning about all of the different organizations that are making a difference every day. I have also especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the other women candidates.
As we go through life, we meet many people along the way that help define and refine us. I’ve been fortunate to have met many wonderful people who have served as a mentor to me in various aspects of my personal and professional growth.
I am very encouraged to see more women taking on larger roles and being a voice for those that cannot or are unable to speak up. As leaders and office holders, let’s be the drivers for the change that we want to see.
