I lead because it’s time that our state prioritizes our future and our communities. It is incredibly moving to be part of the wave of women running for office in Michigan and across our country. It’s important to have our voices at the table when decisions are being made for our community—and it’s an honor to be part of this movement.
My family, especially my younger sister Alis, is my greatest support. Alis helps our campaign with often overlooked details and keeps my spirits high. My mother, who ran a small business while raising two daughters, has been an incredible mentor to me. I can lean on her to weather challenges and celebrate successes.
In Michigan politics, Rep. Kristy Pagan has been an excellent mentor for me from day one.
She shares her experience and guidance with the team and constantly pushes me to do my best as a candidate. My volunteers are some of my closest friends. Ashley Battier, Mia Gallucci, and so many others in our community are helping us make change happen.
Meeting young women and girls who are excited to see a young woman running for the statehouse is the greatest thrill of being a candidate. There are, of course, some challenges we face as women, but the triumphs are all well-worth the fight.
Born and raised in Birmingham, Mari Manoogian believes that Michigan’s brightest days are still to come. She is running for State Representative in District 40.
